Without it, I don't bother with shotguns they're worse than full auto guns up close and worse than snipers far away. I can't believe I don't see anyone talking about And Stay Back, which is one of my favourite perks. Worse damage multiplier than 4/0s, but more amor pierce than anything and more hits than a slug. 6DT and one more pellet than 4/0 hits like a truck. This is your BoS killer - they hit power armor even harder than normal slugs do.įlechette rounds. Scarce and expensive, but who worries about armor when their enemies are ON FIRE. Breaks down your weapon a bit faster, but if you're falling back on 4/0 it's probably worth making those few pellets hit harder.ĭragon's breath rounds. I don't use them much, but I think they're a solid answer to raiders and the like.Ĥ/0 hand loads are the same thing, but better damage and -2DT. Full pellet count, so it's good against giant radscorpions and other melee/large-profile targets.Ĥ/0 shells give up a few pellets for higher per-pellet damage.

It's not enough for the toughest enemies, but it'll give back ~20 damage.

Slugs are my usual answer to heavy armor, because I'd rather engage most well-armored opponents with the range and accuracy they give. You either switch weapons against them, or carry something that isn't buckshot. The damage reduction rules on shotgun pellets (full DR applied to every pellet) make shotguns very difficult to use against anyone with serious armor - lighting up a Legion Assassin or BoS Paladin with pellets does virtually nothing. My experience is that you can make do without buckshot, but not slugs.
